club rules

  1. The Club shall be called the Bracken Company of Archers, hereafter the Company.
  2. The Company shall be governed by a Committee consisting of the Chairman, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer and at least two other Members. The Committee shall be elected for one year and shall resign en bloc at the Annual General Meeting, but will be eligible for re-election.
  3. The Company shall be open to Adults over the age of 18 and Juniors under 18. Prospective members must be proposed and seconded by existing members, and juniors must be sponsored by an adult member.
  4. The Company shall be affiliated to the Grand National Archery Society through membership of the Dorset and Wilts Archery Association or other body nominated by the Grand National Archery Society.
  5. All members shall be subject to the Grand National Archery Society Rules and Regulations at all times of shooting.
  6. All cheque's drawn on the Company must bear the signatures of two of the following as authorized by the Bank mandate, Chairman, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer.
  7. No member shall purchase equipment on behalf of the Company without the authorization of the Committee. When such authorization. has been given, the member shall be reimbursed for the said equipment on production of proof of purchase or invoice.
  8. Shooting will take place on Tuesday and Thursday. Sunday will be the Company Target Day. Any other day will be authorised by signing the Club Book. One Sunday per month will be set aside as a Specified Round Target Day. Latecomers will not be allowed to make up the number of arrows required at the end of each distance.

etiquette

A good archer:

  • Does not talk in a loud voice while others are shooting
  • Does not talk to another competitor who obviously prefers to be silent
  • Does not make any exclamations on the shooting line which may disconcert a neighbour in the act of shooting
  • Does not walk off the shooting line while a neighbour is at full draw
  • Does not walk along the line and compare scores
  • Does not touch anyone else’s archery equipment without permission
  • Does not leave litter on the archery ground
  • Does not smoke near the shooting or waiting line
  • Does not disturb people with loud mobile phone ring tones or speaking on the phone on or around the shooting line.
  • Does not shoot distances beyond their capability, continually missing and holding up shooting.
  • When positioning his foot markers, takes into account other archers shooting on the same target, and allows sufficient space for them.
